The focal point of this master-planned community is the 195 acre lake itself. Homeowners enjoy the privilege of boat launch facilities and Marina, holiday fireworks shows and social gatherings. The lake permits electric boats and non-powered vessels such as canoes for residents only. The Windward Lake Club offers professional tennis instruction, social events, and includes a 25 meter swimming pool, Olympic quality diving pool with 2 springboards, a fabulous 150 water slide and plunge pool (largest in Fulton County), mushroom fountain, snack bar & grill, social areas, digital background music, pro shop, 20 lighted tennis courts and much more. The Tennis Program includes regularly scheduled socials, round robins, tournaments, inter club exchanges, Pro-Am Team Championships and Men`s and Lady`s nights out. For children and youths, the Club offers USA Team Tennis, Rallyball, 3 levels of Junior Academy, Summer Camps, ALTA and USTA Junior League tennis. The Sports Park features a large sandbox, Tot Lot, baseball park, volleyball area, basketball court, and shady pavilion. Also in the community is a soccer field. The north side of the lake boasts two golf courses (Lakeside and Creekside) at the prestigious The Golf Club of Georgia for members only.

Windward is comprised of some 30+ subdivisions situated on 2400 acres of land, formally agriculture and cotton fields. Back in 1980 some 2400 homes were slated for construction and at the time there were only 3,000 residents in Alpharetta. Now there are over 35,000. They range from the 200’s into the millions. There are gated and non-gated neighborhoods, with homes on both the golf course and lake. The Peninsula, The Neighborhoods, the Enclave, and Greatwood Manor are gated communities and some of these have private community pools.
